Finishing the first/third draft.
Very late last night.
And no title at all – yet.
Leaving it sit ths morning (also because I’m having eight people over for lunch…)
Going through it one last time this afternoon, then handing it to my Readers Three.
And what about the title?
Pestering the Readers Three until they’ve told me what they think.
Polishing it up.
Going through one last How Could I Write This How Could I Ever Think I Can Write crisis.
Finding a dratted title.
Sending it away in the nick of time.
Sounds like a plan, doesn’t it?

Oh I know very well the How Could I Write This How Could I Ever Think I Can Write crisis!
And I know very well also the problem of the missing title.
It is the last thing I write because I find very hard to chose one title, usually I come with a title I don’t completely like and often I find my REAL title a lot of time after I finished my story.
Sometimes it happens that I have the title first, but when it happens usually the story is not so good and I don’t finish it.
So for me having a title too soon is a bad sign.

The Story-Killing Early Title Syndrome… Sounds interesting in itself, you know. 🙂
By now I have a scrap of not entirely unlikey title… It’s nothing clever, but it is to the point. I suppose I might go for that, if nothing better blossoms. But I still have a few days to think it over.
The sad thing is, I used to be decent at titles, and I am no more. Old age, I guess… Oh well.
