HistBooks… And what is history? And what is fact? And what is perceived as history?

All hefty questions, that Derek Birks addresses in a thought-provoking manner in this article on the English Historical Fiction Authors blog.

I rather agree with one of the commenters that Shakespeare had Tudor propaganda firmly in mind when he wrote Richard III, but this dtracts nothing from Mr. Birks’s intelligent musings on history, general perception, and the historical novelist’s job.

Besides, the whole collective blog (with this rather unwieldy title, the EHFA is just what it says on the tin) is well worth some perusing, with lots of interesting articles, reviews and weekly giveaways.
