So… It’s April already, have you noticed? A quarter of the year has gone past in a whirl – and I have yet to write a single word outside the box.
Oh, I’ve been writing, and editing, and adapting with a vengeance – but I haven’t found anything new to try. Things I’ve never done before, you know – à la Breakfast at Tiffany’s, only writing-wise.
Now, I’ve long known that I’m not terribly good at pushing myself out of my comfort zone, but I’ve really tried hard last year – with all sorts of interesting results. So I’ve resolved to do the same this year, and every year if I can. But I’ve also realised that most of last year’s outside-the-box writing happened to me: unexpected requests, a suggested Mooc in my mailbox… and while I’m rather proud of myself for not running from any of it, I don’t think it qualifies as “actively pursuing new things,” does it? New things found me, rather than the other way around.
So perhaps this is the next step – the one I might try to take this year: finding new things myself.
Right, it sounds like a plan. Now I must just seek and find my own writing adventure(s) for this year… It can be all that hard, right? Right?
Are you open to suggestions?

Are you asking because, if you suggest it, it might not qualify as “finding it myself”? 😀

Oh, literal-minded young woman!
I might suggest a direction in which to search, leaving you the finding bit.

That would be most appreciated…
