I’m late – sorry, sorry, sorry! It’s not that I forgot to post, but…
Frantic days, hectic week. We’re debuting Carlo Emilio Gadda’s Quer Pasticciaccio Brutto de Via Merulana (That Awful Mess on Via Merulana) on Saturday, and we have dress rehearsal in little more than an hour, and everything – but everything – has happened, ranging from the hilarious to the highly depressing, so much so that we weren’t even quite sure we could début at all until the other day, and is this ever a run-on sentence!
Now things seem to have settled somewhat, and at least we know we can play Saturday night, so there is that.
Were it not enough, though, thanks to some miscommunication and the tiniest drop of contrariness, I’m also playing Shakespeare in Words with the Squirrels on Sunday afternoon, for a (much deserving) charity at the other end of the district… Juggling two companies is becoming increasingly complicated, I must say.
And in the middle of it all, I’m trying to manage, rehearse and stage my own Lunedì, and to get my bearings about a new play I want to write, and get ready for the playwriting course I’ll teach at the Company’s school – and the masks…
But you know what? There’s no such thing as too much theatre in one’s life. So please, bear with me. Things will settle a little in a week or so – and afterwards I’ll be back to posting in earnest. I think.
Now, off to dress rehearsals, before I run criminally late – as opposed to somewhat late…
Wish me broken legs: I’ll let you know.
